9/11/05 -- New Orleans, LA -- Mid City -- These pictures were shot for a project on the recovery and rebuilding of neighborhood hard-hit by Hurricane Katrina on Sunday, September 11, 2005 in Mid-City, New Orleans. We focused Telemachus to Palmyra, Palmyra to Cortez, Cortez to Banks and Banks to Telemachus. Four streets, one square block, in the middle of the city. This block describes a transitional area filled with black and white, young and old, artists and professionals, and the unemployed. It has one business on the block, Finn McCool's, an Irish pub, that has become a community center of sorts, which was both flooded and looted. At one point, we estimate the water line at at least seven feet.
